Wow, this shouldn’t be as exciting as it is.. but it is. As a Transformers fan growing up as a kid and a fan of the recent movie, I was curious when this link was sent my way from a friend. But after giving it a few tries, I quickly decided that this could very well waste away entire hours of the day.

Tip: It seems that only common names get pronounced, so for best bets, on your first test through the system try a common name like “Tom” or “Mike”, etc. Once you get a flow for what should be there, try the real names.

We’ve seen the RIAA and MPAA push their weight around trying to force the old model of consumer purchasing down our throats. As much as we try to resist, it seems that so long as they have large teams of expensive lawyers and tons of money, that they’ll prevail. But there are a few people out there that “get it”. The internet has upped the ante for coolness. To be successful, you need a new way to appeal to the masses.

People can now download rather than buy, so there needs to be some incentive past typical marketing. I think this little Transformers flash message system, really does that. It’s a fun way to stick your brand in someone’s face, have them share it, and have almost everyone have fun during the whole process. I’ve already sent several phone messages and emails to friends with different configurations.

I’ve heard this was also done for Snakes On A Plane and a few other movies. Bravo to Peter Cullen for the voice work, and the Transformers marketing team for an inventive way to spread the word that didn’t feel like a commercial. I’m having WAY too much fun with this!
